You've got personality... or do you?

Aha, the joys of taking personality tests, what couldn't be more fun? I personally enjoy taking them just to see where I stand with certain things. Majority of them out there are long and boring and tend to not give any insights to the person taking the test. I took three different personality tests to see where I would fall depending on what sort of test it was. I was not surprised by some of the results, but other results I was flabbergasted by.

The information below appears to be a lot to take in at first glance because of the many screenshots but it really isn't once you look at it. There are a lot of graphs, which take up a good chunk of the screenshots.

This personality test gave results based off of the five main traits: openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness, negative emotionality, and extraversion all of those main traits break down into sub traits, but I will not be getting into that currently. Overall, I am average for four of the five traits when compared to the national average. The one I scored highest was 79 out of 100 that being, conscientious. Normally I would not be too affected by this result if it did not say in the description that I was a 'wee bit boring'. My friends and family would not call me boring in the slightest. It also said that I am most likely a political conservative, which I am not. On the flip side, I am well organized, responsible, and a hard worker. Personality Type Indicator

I must say of the three personality tests I did this one was the one I actually agreed with everything it had to say about me even the parts that were considered to be negative.

In my mind this one told me a lot about how I handle things at work in a retail management environment. I tend to like structure and having a to do list for the day. I also am more likely to base my decision making off of logic and reason rather than emotion. Thinking of my work setting, I do tend to struggle having empathy for others depending on the situation because why bring emotion into a it when logic and reason are better? I am most definitely stubborn (just ask my husband), and I do not like change. It takes me a while to adjust. Here is the Link to take this personality test.

According to the final personality test, I am what is called an executive. I whole heartly do not agree that I struggle with the knowledge that there might be multiple ways to getting things accomplished. In my work world, when training someone new, I show them how I do it, but then I also say if you find a better way of getting the same result then go ahead and do it that way. As long as we get the same end result and there is no loss of integrity, I don't care how things get done. I also do not have fixed bedtimes. I do have a fixed wake up time, but that is only because I have a tiny human that wakes me up around the same time every day. I am also a very honest and direct person, which some absolutely love, and others not so much. I will tell you like it is and not sugar coat it. Which my boss loves about me, but my staff would probably like this to change. If you would like to take this personality test, which was my favorite of the three to take, follow this Link

Action Plan for Strengthening

While I do agree with most of the results I received from the personality tests, I do believe there is always room for growth and making myself better than I previously was. I want to strengthen and improve my empathy for others. I liked to use the SMART method when creating goals for myself. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timeable. Three goals for myself to improve my empathy for others and/or using less reason and logic are:
1) Starting right away, I will ask others how they are feeling depending on how they appear to be at the time.
2) When talking to others I will ask them more open-ended questions to gain more insight into how they are feeling and possibly why they are feeling that way, if they are willing to share.
3) I will stop relying so much on logic and reason and start to acknowledge people have feelings and they do not need to 'suck it up buttercup' as the old saying goes.

How do I spend my time?

How does one spend their time on the internet? Is it for personal or professional use? I had to map my internet and app usage. I was surprised by some of the results, but there were some results that I was not at all surprised about. While looking through my phone for the information I was shocked at how much time I just spent on my phone in general throughout the day. According to my phone I spend around five to six hours a day on it. Is that time being spent productivly or is it mindless scrolling through the virus apps that I have?  By the numbers I was able to find some interesting numbers on cell phone usage by millennials, which is what I would fall into. Millennials spend an average of 5.7 hours a day on their phones. It turns out, that I am a typical millennial in that regard with my five to six hours a day. Millennials use their phones more than any other generation. For more numbers and statistics about phone usage for millennials follow this link  Phones . Pe...

Integrating Technology

Given the choice between five different models of technology integration: SAMR, TPack, Technology Integration Matrix, Triple E Framework, and Teaching Innovation Progression chart, I decided to do a deeper dive into Technology Integration Matrix or TIM for short. The main reason I chose TIM over the others was because in its simplest form it is designed to evaluate a lesson, as opposed to rating a teacher or judging a task. Whereas the other models, just looked at tasks and not the overall lesson plan. There is so much that can be done and changed at the lesson plan level instead of based on a task. This model of TIM is in its third version and the program is based out of Florida. For more information about the history of TIM follow this link  History .  The Goods of TIM This model sets the stage for how to use technology at the start of a lesson and throughout as opposed to the after affects like some of the other models. TIM also gives massive amounts of lesson plans, for al...

A Bit About Me

I was asked the question, "What is your current role?" Well, there is a lot I could answer that question with. I am a mom , wife, friend, sister, aunt, daughter, retail store manager, student, library board member , and a gestational surrogate just to name a few.   My amazing tiny human, who will be six at the end of June, has special needs. He has a genetic condition, that causes occasional seizures, which has caused his developmental delay. He is semi-verbal, but that does not stop him from letting his needs and wants to be known. I can say with absolute certainty, being his mom has been the greatest thing in my life and he has taught me so very much. For more information about being a special needs parent I encourage you to read Forever Boy by Kate Swenson or watch some of her vlogs on YouTube,  Finding Cooper's Voice . Following Kate's journey has helped me so much with my own. In December of 2022, I was appointed to my local library's trustee board. 2023 wa...
